Very nice razor with a good finish, and no issues with blade alignment [provided it is assembled correctly]. It has a good weight (93gms), and although the handle on this model (500) is short, it is not dissimilar to the Gillette Slim Adjustable at approx. 77mm.
I have been pleased with the shaves I have had with it so far, although I have noticed a tendency for the adjustment setting to move slightly during shaving (my sample, at least); however, not a major problem once you are aware of it. Could be my technique needs refining to compensate! Also, typical of razors made of this kind of material, it doesn't possess that 'built-in' glide of stainless steel or aluminium razor heads.
The only 'issue' I have is that no (assembly) instructions are included: they would be very useful, especially for those with little mechanical aptitude, in complying with the Care Instructions without having to resort to You-tube for the information. Bottom line, though, I like this razor a lot and it will certainly be one I use in regular rotation.
Final point for anyone considering the Progress against the Futur: if, like me, you are a daily shaver, I would recommend the Progress because it is far less aggressive than the Futur - which, imho, is just downright aggressive on any setting, including 1 - and a daily 2- or 3-pass shave is no problem whatsoever.

Bought my merkur 39c from here and now bought the progress . Nice razor not as agressive as I kinda imagined even on no5 but still gave me full bbs all over. Nimal

The first time I picked this razor up it felt like it was a bespoke design - perfect weight, perfect handle length, an absolute joy to hold. Non of the engineering faults (reported on other sites) on my razor, an even blade gap both sides. Optimum shaving angle is different to all my other razors. I find the shave very smooth, not remotely aggressive, even on higher gap settings. Much more tolerant of blade type than my beloved EJ DE89L. I have to agree with Mantic69 - this razor performs best with an average blade such as a Shark SS rather than a Gillette 7 oclock sharp edge or Feather but, as ever, YMMV
