Great razor and one of the best on the market



Personally, i prefer it to the Merkur HD 34C (also a great razor) and Muhle R89 Grande.



If you have larger hands, i 'd recommend the Merkur HD 38C Barber Pole over the Merkur HD 34C.



You can't go wrong with this razor.

For the past five years, since I started using a safety razor instead of electric shaver, I have been using a Merkur Classic 33C. I have been reasonably happy with it but I needed a new shaving brush and I had read good things about the 38C so I thought I would try one. It is certainly longer, which I find more comfortable in my glove size 11 hands. It is also heavier. I did not think it would make much difference to my shave but I was wrong. It seemed to give me a closer shave with less passes and much less razor burn. Now I know the difference wasn't the blade. I had only used my Astra blade twice in my old 33C so I took it out and put it in the 38C. My technique was the same. Putting the two side by side, it could be imagination, but the 38C looks like it may have a very slightly steeper angle at the comb. Whatever it is I really like this new razor. I just wish I'd got this one to start with. Very happy customer as always !

This is my first "old school" type of safety razor, as I usually use disposable razors. I'm really impressed with the quality of the safety razor, it has a nice weight and a good size. I was warned by the wife that I would sustain multiple "nicks" from using this razor, but I just held the razor lightly in my hand and let the blade do the rest. I purchased the razor sample pack too, as I couldn't decide on a blade after reading all the reviews. It seems that everyone has a favourite blade that they like to use, so I think it's a good idea to buy the sample pack. The blade that comes in the pack with the razor does provide a good clean shave, but you do have to practise holding the razor at the right angle to get the right shave. I would recommend this safety razor as I'm very pleased with it.

I love this razor, ive switched from disposable to this DE Razor. It tok a few weeks of shaving to get it right, but im now smooth, and rash free every morning now. I wish i new about these razors years ago. Its a shame leeds is so far as id love to visit the shop. Will definatly order blades and cream from this company, the brush i ordered arived in a few cays and a nice touch of some sweets in the package, you dont get that with amazon!
