I got this as a Christmas gift from a family member (It was on the list I gave her) having used a safety razor for many years, and sporting a beard which I keep neat and tidy my only one complaint is that I should have changed earlier.
It came with feather high stainless platinum blades, these are extremely sharp and you should use lots of quality soap as they need good lubricant, which I respectively suggest could be cause of Peters issues.

Very well built, nicely weighted but handle could be a touch longer. Impressed when I got the angle correct, cursed when I didn't. Technique is hugely important, but don't give up. I don't recommend if your trying to intricate beard styles as the head is too large.

I can't take anything away from the build quality and finish of this razor, nor from the excellent service and communication from this company, the razor and kit looks really flash and classy on my bathroom window sill, unfortunately that's where it will stay, as an ornament.
After reading hundreds of reviews over 6 months or more, I decided that this shaving system was the way forward for me, I couldn't have been any more wrong.
After 3 careful practice shaves I have lost more blood than a trauma victim, I have facial skin a zombie would be proud of and a constant 3 day stubble.
I have had closer shaves using a 6 month old rusty disposable bic I found under the bath!
DE razors and anything old skool should be left where they are, in the past, the same as classic cars and all things retro!
I have a penchant for German engineering, especially VW's, however I choose to drive a newish Golf and not a classic Beetle for very good reasons, its reliable, it has all the flaws designed out, it won't hurt me and I know it won't cost me a fortune in the pursuit of retaining "Gentleman" status in the pub.
That said, the shave kit does look amazing on my bathroom window ledge, I think I'll leave the top off the cream so visitors can smell the gentlemans musk ;-)
