Decent enough blades but I do find they pull even on a fresh blade, only get 2 decent shaves per blade 3 at a push but I do have thick stubble. Some redness after shaving but soon goes with aftershave balm. Few niks even to a fairly new DE shaver like me

Excellent blades that have a fine, sharp edge which lasts very well. One of my favorites for a clean, nick-free shave and an excellent match for the Edwin Jagger DE89 or similar 'closed comb' safety. Ideal beginners blade.

I bought a trial pack of various blades. I found Derby to work the best for me - comfortable and less likely to cause nicks thank some (although to be fair Astra and Treet were also very good).

Bought as part of a sampler pack. So far I have tried Shark and Astra blades as a complete newcomer to DE Shaving. I switched to a Muhle R89 after many years of using Electric interspersed with the occasional Mach 3, or used dry to touch up where the Philishave had missed.

My DE introduction has been relatively smooth so far - experimenting with Arko shave stick, and moving on to Neville (from Cowshed) Shaving Cream(sublime smell), lathered in a bowl with a Sempgue 1305 brush. I finish with Neville "Refresher Tonic" and "Skin Rescue" Moisturiser....topped off with TOBS Sandalwood Aftershave, until I can afford the Neville Cologne. (If anyone hasn't tried Neville yet - suggest you do!).

I used the blade that came with the Muhle on day 1, and promptly junked it, as frankly I could have obtained a closer shave with the electric. Next up the Astra Superior's; pain free, irritation free and I can feel my technique improving daily. I next tried Shark blades, and equally for me as good as the Astra's.

So onto the Derby - day 1, and I have slashed myself to bits (remedied with Proraso Repair)and my face is still burning all over after 8 hours....I think I underestimated the sharpness of the blades / over-estimated my own capabilities. These clearly give a VERY Close shave, but I will be putting these at the bottom of my sample pile, and hopefully by the time I work through to them again, I will a) treat them with more respect, and b) hopefully will have perfected my technique.

In summary, potentially a great blade but not for beginners IMO.
